How to Earn Money Writing Fiction Online

To start earning on writing fiction, there are two different approaches you can use. First, you can write for yourself and publish books, articles, and magazines. Otherwise, you can write for others.

Ghostwriting is one thing but you can still type for others keeping your credibility. If you don’t know what ghostwriting is, it’s any type of content that you write for someone without getting any credibility.

First we’re gonna talk about ghostwriting and then self-publishing. If you need, you can jump into self publishing.

Hi, I'm a farmer financial iournalist, top-selling non-fiction author (Cavemen with Smartphones: how evolution sha

Upwork is the best place for Ghostwriters so far. There are many professional Ghostwriters you can find there. Even I myself have ordered few books from UpWork writers to publish on Amazon, as I see the quality is okay. If you can establish there, it’ll be great.

Since you can build your profile and go to the top rated status along with Ghostwriting, you’re building your profile along with your career. Once you become a TOP RATED writer, you’re a more trusted and you can ask for more than the others.

Fiverr

If you don’t want to show your face and still want to build your own profile along with writing, Fiverr is the best place for you. I want to add something important here. Since the anonymity in Fiverr, people are trying to do spammy things in there. So they are always in touch to ban any account with suspicious activities.

The other thing you need to know before starting Fiverr, you should not share or ask your clients contact details for any reason. If they send you the contact details and ask you to contact them on WhatsApp or though emails, report them. If Fiverr’s automated system detected that you, or your client shared a phone number or an email, you will be banned. It’s restricted to do anything  outside the Fiverr.

If you’re already an established writer with some fan base, you can try to apply for Fiverr PRO. Then you can cost 10X more than a normal writer. But the problem is, Fiverr is too selective through this process.

Self-publishing

If you’re confident about yourself, give it a try by publishing your own book. With amazon prime,   publishing a book is so simple. So the publishing part is not that difficult, therefore you need to focus on the writing.

To be honest, I’m not a good writer. But I’ve published dozens of books on Amazon Kindle by hiring Ghostwriters. 70% of my books are non-fiction, so you may ask why didn’t I hire people to write more fiction.

The reason is simple. Writing fiction is like a lottery these days. If you succeed, you can earn a bulk of the money, but the success rate is comparatively low. It’s easy to outsource a non-fictional book, but for a fictional book, there should be a serious talent.

One of the best courses I found on improving writing skills is “Margaret Atwood Teaches Creative Writing”. It’s on MasterClass and the course is expensive.

How I Publish my Fictional Books

First, I did some keyword analysis, content analysis and understand what are the type of books people do like to read. There are some type of books, which has their own fan base. Once I done  with researching, I write the plot of the story.

To make the story more engaging, the plot should have some mystery and unexpected events. You can get a rough idea of this by reading book summaries.

Then I try to find some a good ghost writer. When I’m doing this, I try to be too selective, because the success of the book is depend on the writing style. Otherwise my investment will be way waste.

Then I hire some a cover design from a good cover designer on Fiverr (I’m ordering from the same designer for a while now, He’s super creative and always exceed my expectations.) Don’t forget to have a great cover, because it’s your first impression about the book.

Then I publish it on Amazon and do some marketing on Facebook. Sometimes, I buy some reviews to have a little push.

Conclusion

Even if there are bunch of other marketplaces for ghostwriters, Upwork and Fiverr are the best marketplaces. There are some other marketplaces which pays you one dollar for hundred words. Since those places, don’t build you a profile in the long run, I can’t recommend you those.

As I think, the best way for you to do is writing for yourself. Do your own market analysis and write. Don’t let someone else to get profit from your talent.

I call myself an online entrepreneur who gets his income completely by online methods. And the important part is that I try to do almost anything that I can do online. Maybe I'll earn more if I stick to few things. From May 2021, I'm starting to share my experiences with you. And hoping to write an article per day. Wish me good luck.

We will be happy to hear your thoughts
